Hotfix rollup (KB2775511) released for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
Microsoft has released a new Hotfix rollup for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1-based computers. This rollup contains 90 hotfixes, including improvements to components for Windows Client Remote File System, SMB Service, and TCP protocol. Steps to deploy the hotfix rollup:
- Open Desktop Central.
- Click the Software Deployment tab.
- Click the Packages tab.
- Click + Add Package.
- Select Windows.
- For the Package Type, select EXE / APPX / MSIEXEC / MSU.
- Enter the package details (Application name, Path type, MSU file name with Switches (/passive /quiet /norestart).
- Click Add Package.
- Deploy the package to the targeted systems.
Now you can make sure that the hotfix rollup is deployed for every system.
When I deploy the 64 bit version, it fails. Hotfix rollup for SP1 Install -- Retry In Progress -- %1 is not a valid Win32 application. It would seen it does not take into account that it is 64 bit. How do I fix that ?? Bjarke
Given that this is a roll up, does not DC already apply the patches included in this role up. What happens when DC pushes this roll up to workstations that have all, some or none of the patches? Mike

I tested this out thusly: Deployed all Win7 updates to test machine >> all updates applied successfully Programs/Features >> View Installed Updates >> Reports 150 installed updates Built rollup packed as described above >> deployed to test machine >> deployed successfully Programs/Features >> View Installed Updates >> Reports 150 installed updates I doubt the MS exe actually reinstalled any of the updates.. more likely inventoried what was already there, evaluated no changes were needed.. and exited with no errors and no changes made. I think I would replace my win7 update configs with the rollup patch. seems like it would be more efficient that deploying patches individually for the rest of time.
Hi Mike & Chris, Since both of your queries are more or less similar hope this helps you out. I understand from your question that you are expecting Desktop Central performs Hotfix management like a patch management function. To start with this hotfix roll up does not include any security updates. This means you can only push this hotfixes to systems using desktop central when it is essential (case to case basis).
