Here’s a question sent to us by our colleagues in technical support. Since this question comes up a fair bit, we thought it might help a lot of folks if we answer it here in the blog:

Our servers will be down for a while as they will be rebooted (Example: Servers App-lin01, App-lin03 & App-lin18 are down everyday at 5.30AM  as they reboot) and currently we are getting alerts for the same.

Could you please confirm if we can stop the alerts as this is a scheduled reboot?

If you don’t want to receive alerts during a pre-planned downtime, all you need to do is create a ‘Downtime Schedule’ in Applications Manager and associate your monitors to it. If you’re taking down an entire bunch of servers for maintenance, you can group these monitors into a monitor group and then associate the monitor group with the downtime schedule.

The downtime schedule can be configured to run either daily or weekly or just once, depending on your requirement.  You can create a downtime schedule by following the steps given here.

Bonus Tip: You can also create downtime schedules using our REST APIs.
