What happens if your on-call staff is unavailable to act on a critical alarm? Chances are it would lead to a substantial loss for your business. But why worry when the appropriate person can be notified instantly to act on the alarm? With AlarmsOne, you can now define escalation policies to escalate unacknowledged alarms to the next level so that you never have to worry about missing a critical event.

We have enhanced AlarmsOne to give you complete control over the alerting process. Decide who needs to be notified first, how long to wait until escalating an alarm, and who to notify next if that alarm is not acknowledged within the defined time period. You can add up to five levels of escalation to ensure crucial alarms are acknowledged and closed before it’s too late.

Adding an escalation policy makes alarm management as simple as it gets. Just select a recipient to be notified immediately when an alarm is triggered, enter the escalation time-out duration in minutes, then select the next recipient to be notified if the alarm is not acknowledged or closed within the specified time. Then, create a new notification profile or open an existing one. In the escalation policy field, select the policy you created, and you’re good to go.

You can also add schedules and outbound apps as recipients when creating an escalation policy. Consider you created an escalation policy as shown in the image above. In this case, when an alarm is triggered, AlarmsOne will immediately notify the person in the schedule, US-Even. After three minutes, if the alarm is still not acknowledged or closed, AlarmsOne will escalate the alarm and share it with the HipChat team. If the alarm is still not closed, even after five minutes from the moment it was triggered, AlarmsOne will escalate the alarm to the next level and notify Kevin.

With the introduction of alarm escalation, you can now easily notify the right person at the right time to always keep your business up and running. Log in to AlarmsOne to try adding escalation policies. Click here if you don’t have an AlarmsOne account.
