Hi All,

Yes, Yes!; the dissection of Real-time IT continues. From laying the introduction foundation of real-time IT to talking about business needs of the same, I shall talk about one of the most important technical aspects of real-time IT- an end user’s quality of experience. Why is this important? Well, I see this as the junction where end users and technology meet. This is where organizations must make sure that all the parameters and underlying supporting infrastructure should work perfectly to give an unmatched experience to end users.

Gartner says, “End-user experience monitoring will become more important, because the point at which the end-user accesses the hybrid application will often be the only point where end-to-end behavior can be observed.”

End-user experience monitoring is evolving from evaluating the performance of individual applications to an understanding of the performance of all the applications available to the end user. This includes evaluating the behavior of end users regarding those applications. So where do you start to gain this understanding? First, you must identify what constitutes an end user’s experience of an application. Is it the speed of response, the ease of access to information access or the depth of integration with other applications? Until you understand what constitutes a user’s experience, you’re not in a position to measure or quantify it.

One of my blogs in the APM digest takes a deeper dive into this aspect by explaining the various stages where monitoring is required for smoother transactions like:

·         Monitoring business metrics related to application performance

·         Monitoring the impact on end-user experience across infrastructure tiers

·         Generating synthetic transactions to measure end-user performance

ManageEngine takes a similar approach in its solutions to ensure visibility into the application. One such feature which we have in ManageEngine IT360 is Business Service Grouping (BSG), which, a colleague of mine, has spoken about in another blog series. To give you a short introduction to BSG, I would say: Group all the infrastructure supporting your business-critical applications and monitor the grouped infrastructure as a separate entity. This way, the organization can prioritize plus visualize what is happening in their system and easily troubleshoot the minutest of glitches without giving too much downtime to end-user.

In my earlier blog post, I mentioned a webinar on The first steps to Real-time IT which we are conducting on January 25th. In this session, we will be explaining all such parameters which give you visibility into real-time IT. You can also hear from one of our key MSP customers, Adam Dunlap, who is the Director, IT network solutions, Appalachia Technologies. He will speak about how the ManageEngine IT360 solution is helping his team and organization overcome modern IT challenges and increase IT productivity. Also we will be discussing about various key points we mentioned in recently released Gartner co-branded eBook. You can also download the eBook here. So lots to discuss and lots to learn, book your slot for the webinar today. We already have hundreds of registrations from across the globe so far. Looking forward to a healthy Q&A session during the webinar.

See you there

Cheers,

Suvish
