To download the patch (exe) files the Desktop Central server needs the Internet Access. It may be a direct connection or proxy connection, otherwise the patch management module can’t be used directly. The possible solution is, administrator has to download the patch files in a different machine where internet connection is available then copy them to the machine where the desktop central server is installed. It is tedious ! FYI, Desktop Central server can be installed in the windows server or desktop. My question is, will the administrator provide the internet access to the machine where desktop central server is installed or not ? If the Desktop Central Server is installed in the windows server machine and if it is kept in the protected zone then the internet access may not be available. Just I want to understand the real time usage, please share your views.
