One of salient features of IT360 is its ability to easily detect and add critical network devices and start monitoring them. In today’s blog post, I will show you how to do that within minutes.

Step 1: Getting the Credentials Right!

All networks within an organization/company will have network credentials settings – a way to access a particular device –in place. Using protocols such as WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation), SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), CLI (Command Language Interface), etc you can use them to allow IT360 to start monitoring them without any agents or probes.  To do so, follow the steps given below:

1. Go to Credential Settings under Networks in Admin panel.

2. Click on New button and select the correct protocol so that IT360 can start monitoring critical components.

3. Once you have configured the correct credentials, it should look something like this.

Step 2: Discovering and Monitoring Network Devices!

The simplest way to start monitoring devices would be to create a CSV file and include the following details of every device within your network.
  • Device Name/IP
  • Display Name and
  • Type (optional)

Simply go to Discover Devices under Networks in Admin panel,

Select CSV File Import option. Browse and select the CSV file from your hard disk and click Discover.

IT360 automatically starts discovering various devices within your network. Once the devices are discovered and listed, click Import Devices to add those you consider critical or necessary for monitoring.

And that’s it! The network devices are automatically added into IT360 for monitoring and are sorted out according to their type even when you don’t specify the Type of the device. IT360 automatically detects it and assigns the type the device belongs to.
