The KuppingerCole Leadership Compass
In its annual Leadership Compass, KuppingerCole provides an overview of a specific market in the IT segment and identifies the leaders within that market.
Types of leadership: KuppingerCole identifies four different types of leadership: Product, Innovation, Market, and Overall Leadership. Products are distinguished as leaders, challengers, and followers based on the inputs from KuppingerCole advisory projects, feedback from customers, product documentation, a questionnaire sent out to vendors, and other sources.
Product and vendor rating: KuppingerCole evaluates product feature areas and vendors, focusing on security, functionality, ease of delivery, interoperability, and usability for product ratings. Vendors are rated based on their innovativeness, market position, financial strength, and ecosystem. In addition to the Leadership rating, KuppingerCole uses a separate rating with five different levels: strong positive, positive, neutral, weak, and critical.
