When the pandemic hit, organizations around the world shifted their infrastructure to cloud or hybrid models, as working from home (completely or partially) became the new normal. This highlighted new security risks, making it essential to secure the work environment while ensuring critical functions stay up and running smoothly. As hackers kept evolving with advanced cyberattack techniques to suit this new normal, organizations started facing issues in maintaining their cyberhygiene.
The CISA’s Microsoft 365 security recommendations
As more organizations across the globe adopt Microsoft 365, it’s important to know the risks involved in this transition along with the ways to mitigate them. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has recommended some crucial mitigation techniques to harden Microsoft 365 security.
One of those significant techniques is to enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) for administrator accounts. Azure Active Directory (AD) Global Administrators are the first accounts created in Azure AD. Despite being the highest privileged accounts, MFA isn’t enabled by default, paving the way for security risks if hackers gain access.
Enabling MFA for all privileged accounts should be at the top of your security to-do list. But how do you enable MFA for multiple Microsoft 365 accounts and preregister users in bulk without using complex PowerShell scripts or doing it manually?
