We’re excited to announce the new RUM analytics dashboard in Applications Manager, integrating Real User Monitoring (RUM) with Application Performance Monitoring (APM Insight). This enhancement provides a unified view of server-side and client-side performance metrics, streamlining application monitoring and troubleshooting.

Why this integration matters

RUM captures real-time user experience metrics like Apdex scores, response times, and JavaScript errors, while APM Insight tracks backend performance indicators such as transaction throughput, latency, and database operations. By combining these tools, you can:

  • Streamline monitoring with a single dashboard.

  • Pinpoint issues faster with combined insights.

  • Improve user experiences with comprehensive visibility.

Key features of the RUM analytics dashboard

Unified performance metrics

Access server-side and user-side data in one place. The dashboard combines key RUM and APM Insight metrics, offering a complete picture of application performance.

Holistic user satisfaction insights

  • Apdex score: Quickly measure user satisfaction by evaluating response times as satisfactory, tolerable, or frustrating.

  • Page views: Analyze user engagement and optimize your site’s structure and content.

Detailed performance diagnostics

  • Response times: Identify backend bottlenecks by tracking transaction response times.

  • JavaScript errors: Detect and resolve errors impacting user interactions.

Cross-environment insights

  • Performance by ISP, browser, and device: Monitor variations across ISPs, browser types, and devices to ensure consistency for all users.

  • World map summary: Visualize global performance data, identifying regional issues to maintain a seamless user experience worldwide.

RUM Analytics Dashboard

Real-world benefits

Faster root cause analysis

Quickly determine whether an issue stems from the backend or front end, saving time and improving troubleshooting efficiency. For example, if a slow page load is detected in RUM, correlating it with backend performance metrics can help identify whether the issue is due to server-side processing or network latency.

Improved regional and device-specific performance

Address specific issues affecting regions, ISPs, or devices, ensuring optimal performance for all users.

Enhanced user engagement

Optimize content and interactions by analyzing page visits and fixing front-end errors.

How to set up the RUM analytics dashboard

  1. Navigate to the APM Insight section in Applications Manager.

  2. Select your application and go to the RUM Analytics tab.

  3. Choose an existing RUM monitor or associate a new one from the drop-down menu.

  4. View consolidated metrics directly in the dashboard.

  5. For a detailed RUM-specific view, click the popup button next to the associated monitor’s name.
