Recent enhancements and increased customer acceptance have placed Applications Manager as a Challenger in *Gartner’s APM-Magic Quadrant 2014. Over the last few years, changes in the business landscape have accelerated the adoption of application performance management (APM) in  organizations. With hundreds of APM tools vying for attention, it’s difficult for organizations to choose the perfect tool. Cost, complexity, and features figure prominently in the evaluation process. Gartner plays an important role in this market in terms of suggesting the right APM tools for various industry verticals. To help organizations make informed decisions and formulate a sound APM strategy, Gartner has listed the following five dimensions of  APM:

– End-user experience monitoring (EUM)

– Application topology discovery and visualization

– User-defined transaction and profiling

– Application component and deep dive

– IT operations and analytics

ManageEngine’s Applications Manager fulfills all five dimensions and has been part of the Gartner’s APM Magic Quadrant since 2011.

In the last one year, we concentrated on the first three dimensions and simultaneously expanded our monitoring support. Some of the recent enhancements in the user experience management include tracking background transactions and drilling deeper into .Net and Ruby on Rails transactions. In terms of component-level monitoring, we have added support for VMware Horizon View and Citrix XenServer and enhanced support for Cassandra, to name a few. This makes Applications Manager one of the products with the widest monitoring support. Today, we have out-of-the-box support for more than 75 different application types. And, we have listed various enhancements with their version numbers here. Some of the things that we are actively working on include support for mobile APM, automated discovery and dependency mapping (ADDM), enhancements in real-user monitoring, and CMDB integration.

We wouldn’t have made all this progress without you, our customers! And, thank you for getting us into the Gartner Magic Quadrant as Challengers. This feat wouldn’t have been possible without the confidence you place in us. Watch this space for more updates from us.
