We made the Standard edition of ServiceDesk Plus free with no restrictions in April 2014.  That move has since allowed about 40,000 organizations around the world to organize and streamline their incident management process using our world-class, help desk software at no charge.

This was not a freemium marketing gimmick. Rather, it was ManageEngine’s contribution back to the community who put us in the leadership position for over a decade. The Rise of Free was a strategic move made from a position of strength to help organizations that otherwise would not have had the chance to deploy a solution for smart, help desk automation.

Over the past two and a half years, we made an interesting observation. As businesses grew, helped significantly by the adoption of ServiceDesk Plus, they no longer preferred using free software for businesscritical functions like IT incident management. On the other hand, there are organizations that are still small with tight budgets, but could benefit by implementing and automating more mature IT service management processes. 

Return of the Rise of Free.

This realization is pushing us to modify our free offerings and ensure the benefits are far reaching and available to those who need them.     As the blog said , $30 per tech per year, is that right ?

      The Standard Edition is free for 5 technicians. For your requirement, I suggest that you write to sales@manageengine.com for a quote. As for the $30 per tech per year, this was the AMS that existed before. Now AMS is part of your subscription. Hope this clarifies.

    I am currently getting the run around from your company on this issue. First they said it will cost $5000, then they said first 5 Technicians are free and then $30 for each additional, then they said it would be $1500. However it should be free as per this article. I have an open ticket with you. ticket ID 8033156. Can somebody please help.

      Thank you for reaching out to us. As mentioned in the blog, the Standard Edition is free for up to 5 techs. For the 50 techs that you requested, the quote for annual AMS ( optional) is $1500 ( at $30 per tech per year). However since you did not want AMS and considering that you are an SDP Enterprise customer since 2014, the team issued a Standard Edition license for 50 techs, free, at no cost to you at all 🙂
