Dear All,

Its indeed a pleasure to let you know that, we have unveiled FacilitiesDesk 6 (Download Now!)

Let me walk you through the interesting benefits of the release...

Space Modeling:

FacilitiesDesk now offers the flexibility to model your space details based on property type (ex: building, stadium, airport etc..) and add details of all your facilities across different locations.

Define your space details up to three levels of hierarchy based on the space type. For example, if space type is building which will be level 1 then, the floor and room will be level 2 and 3 respectively.

Get clarity in understanding your infrastructure better especially with already available AutoCAD integration and hence improve space optimization and management.

Vendor Management

Decrease your workload on the asset management and maintenance. The Vendor Management screen gives details of all the vendors your company deals with.

Each of the vendor details gives comprehensive information like all the assets sold by the vendor, the asset details, asset maintenance and asset lease contracts associated with the vendor and all the Purchase order history relevant to this vendor.

This one shot information helps your facilities department in evaluating the vendor and his transactions and hence proceed with decision making like continuing with the vendor, assets purchase that needs to be stopped or increased with a particular vendor, etc.

And...

FacilitiesDesk allows facilities management personnel to pull out the apt “Maintenance checklist and safety tips” from the KnowledgeBase for a known planned maintenance task or while resolving popular breakdown maintenance issue for an asset.

The planning of schedules for preventive maintenance of assets is enhanced. Now plan your preventive maintenance with “start and end dates” in your usual daily, weekly, monthly and yearly schedules. Also chart your maintenance schedules on desired days of a month, ex: second Saturday or third Sunday of the chosen month.

With this release we offer craft personnel logins for separate licenses bought based on number of staffs

Thats from our news table..hope to serve you better and better..

Happy Facilities Management!

Team FacilitiesDesk

Dear Users,

In our release FacilitiesDesk 5.7 Release you came across the PDA integration feature in brief.

In this post you will get to know the value and benefit PDA or Handheld device integration offered in FacilitiesDesk 5.7 in detail

In general Facilities Management is a dynamic department in any concern. Let us assume a daily scenario in a company with big infrastrucutre facility.

Where, a Facility Management staff have to be physically present in the place of issue to fix it. Which means the Facility Services Staff is always on the move as and when a work request in raised. This is where integration with mobile client or a handheld device like Blackberry or an iPhone comes in handy.

In FacilitiesDesk the PDA integration function brings the following benefits for a Facilities Management Staff:

Requests raised through phone calls can now be instantly created from your hand-held device on entering details such as, requester name, request title and description.

  • View Request Details then and there
  • Assign requests to Supervisors instantly
  • Spontaneously add Resolution to a request
  • View/Edit Resolutions for a request
  • Add Worklog for a request
  • Add the time spent details for a request from your mobile device
  • Add Craft person Worklog
  • Add the time spend details of the craft person too from your hand held device

Below are some screenshots of FacilitiesDesk with PDA fuctionalities:

Visibility is the key in Facilities Management

Facility Manager: There are new set of staffs joining today! Gosh! I don’t have Floor plan’s CAD drawings to use FaciltiesDesk’s AutoCAD function…the listed information about vacant space will not give me enough visibility to decide….

Chill

FacilitiesDesk: Come on don’t worry….I can still help you with my “Grid Layout” Feature…its flexible functionality makes it feasible to work on Space optimization without the help of AutoCAD integration!!

Facilities Manager: Explain me how? How long will it take for me to learn “Grid Layout” feature and its functions

FacilitiesDesk: Let me explain…Its as simple as any other feature of mine. To quickly brief you about it:

  • Intuitively create a layout for a desired floor in your building and presume cubes as rooms…
  • Resize these cubes to fit perceived layout and arrive at your “Grid Layout”
  • Each cube pertaining to a assumed room can be color coded to differentiate its room type
  • Associate the apt assets and users/people and view them in your grid layout then and there…
  • Vacant rooms can be visualized and hence making spot and quick decisions on relocations and new allocation can be made easier

Facilities Manager: Wow!!

There people…..info i promised to give on Grid Layout during my Release Post….hope this feature comes in handy for your space management….try now.

Happy Facilities Management!
